Interview – The Red Rosette… – Yours Truly

I hope you’re all very well! So before I start introduce you to the wonderful Ulrika from ‘The Red Rosette’ I thought I’d share some hair related news! Although it doesn’t photograph especially differently, I am currently beginning the dyeing process to become brunette in time for my best friends wedding!

I adore having red hair, and will definitely be going back to it at some point, but unfortunately I clashed horribly with the bright blue colour of the bridesmaid dress I shall be wearing. So I’m a temporary brunette again! Due to this recent change you may notice the last question of this interview doesn’t really make much sense anymore!
But enough of my barnet! Time for my first blogger interview! I have followed Ulrika on her blog for over a year now, and I am always delighted by her adorable posts, containing bakery, wishlists and an utterly fantastic wardrobe! Reading her homely blog is like cuddling up with a cup of tea on a rainy day, there is something very warming and honest about it which I adore. Ladies, (and if there are any gentlemen reading!)

Where do you live and what’s great about it?

Most of the year I live in Helsinki, Finland in a flat with my husband. During the weekends and the summer holidays we spend most of the time in the countryside where my dad has a house. I used to live in Canterbury, England and my husband is also from that area so we do go there quite often as well, and we are also planning on moving back to England in August this year. We do move around a lot I guess, haha.

What does ‘style’ mean to you?

Style for me means dressing in a way that makes you feel happy and confident. There are so many stylish people out there to inspire your personal style and that´s one of the things I love about blogging.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

My biker jacket is definitely an all time favourite that goes with most things in my wardrobe. At the moment, I´m also loving midi skirts in different colours.

Do you have a style icon?

I don´t think I have one specific style icon, although Alexa Chung has great style and I also like the way Michelle Williams dresses. Florence Welch is another favourite. Mostly I get inspired people I see on the street and other bloggers.

I’m always on the hunt for particular items, do you have anything you’re searching for currently?

I´ve been searching eBay recently for pretty vintage blouses, especially collared ones. I´ve also been searching for long floaty skirts for summer.

Where are your favourite places to shop?

Topshop is definitely my favourite place to shop and I also like Asos. I do get a lot of my clothes off eBay, you can save alot of money that way. Thrift shops are great for finding bags.

Do you have a favourite book?

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath has been a favourite since I was 14. I recently read A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and I warmly recommend them both.

Aside from fashion what else interests you?

I love baking so much and always bake for my family when I have the time. I also really love reading and try and make time for that as well.

Do you have any collections?

I collect dresses, haha. I can never have enough dresses and shoes.

Do you have a hidden talent or party trick?

Hmm, don´t think I have one actually. I can bend my fingers really far back but people get really grossed out by that. 😀

What are your wardrobe must-haves this summer?

Floaty skirts, straw hats and loafers.

(After recently seeing Ulrika wearing this gorgeous dress I scoured eBay and found my own!)

How did your style evolve to how you dress now?

When I moved to England 5 years ago to study I got really inspired by British highstreet fashion and also started mixing vintage with highstreet. I also started wearing more dresses and skirts and and I guess that`s how my style has evolved to what it is today.

What’s your day job?

I´m a full-time student of psychology and social work but I also work part-time as a nanny and a nursery assistant. And I´m starting a new job in May working for the home service for the elderly, which I´m really excited about.

As a fellow redhead, what is it you love about this colour?

I have not always loved this colour and when I was younger I used to dye my hair dark to cover my natural red hair. I guess you`re never fully happy about the hair colour you´re born with and want to try something different, but with time I´ve accepted it as a part of myself and would not want to change it for the world.

Thank you so much to Ulrika for obliging me with such interesting answers.

If you would like to follow Ulrika you can do so HERE and if there are any other bloggers you would like me to interview, please email me with suggestions!

Alternatively, should it take your fancy, you may also leave questions in the comments section below this post which I will answer in my next post.

So if there is anything you would like to get nosy about concerning me, my wardrobe or what I blow my pennies on, then ask away!

More soon, remember I have those dresses to show you all!

Love Yours Truly, x
